Happy Tales: Stories and Pictures from our Clients
"Just wanted to tell you how wonderful we think our Hercules is. Cierra and Hercules won Champion in showmanship at the fair again this year!

She was so thrilled. She thinks Hercules is the best dog in the world and so happy when he won. She has also set her sights on a papillon calendar contest and hope that Hercules will win a spot.

I hope all is well with you. We noticed that you have lots of babies coming up and hope all is going well with the puppies. Some day we would like to get another but not for a year or two. The only thing that could be better than one papillon is two. : )"

"RULY RULES!

This is Ruly. He is a six-month-old papillon who lives with me on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. We immediately bonded from the first moment he was placed in my arms.

At first, I was apprehensive about getting a dog because I had heard stories about puppies chewing on furniture, spraying and other bad habits. However, I have been mercifully spared these tribulations. Even though Ruly can be "many things", his mild temperament is wonderful. For instance, he sits patiently while I clean his ears and clip his nails--papillons need little grooming.

At six months old, Ruly weights 3 pounds and is small enough to sit in my purse while I run errands. In addition, his small size allows him to travel with me inside the cabin of airplanes. Recently, we traveled to Rochester, New York and Los Angeles, California. Once he is placed in his soft Sherpa carrying case, Ruly immediately falls asleep. Fellow passengers are always surprised when they find out that a puppy has been sitting next to them the entire flight.

Ruly may be small, however, he still likes to accompany me during my morning 10-minute jog. Sometimes the neighbors laugh at us, because they see this little dog running at top speed with me trailing behind. People who want to pet his big ears constantly stop us.

In a nutshell, I am glad to have found Evergreen Papillons, which continues to be a valuable source of information and support for Ruly and me.

Thanks, Lois and Kenny for helping me find the perfect little friend."

"Hi Lois! We got back from vacation. Puzzle survived the upheaval of it all.

Lois, he is the most wonderful little fella! He is so playful. He makes up games a mile a minute. He puts anything he knows how to do into game sequences. He's so much fun. He makes me laugh out loud all the time.

He can roll over repeatedly (nobody taught him to do it) and he likes this game sequence where he races around me on the lawn and suddenly stops at my feet to be petted during which he rolls over half a dozen times making a half circle around my feet only to jump up and repeat the whole thing! It's a riot. He's lightening fast.

He plays fetch (nobody taught him to do it) I rolled a ball exactly once and he raced for it and brought it back to me. He likes to play tug of war with it before he'll release the ball to fetch again. He'll play tug with anything!

He played with it like a tiny ball for ten minutes! He loves to play with pieces of crushed ice. He carries them around! I'd get a headache if I treated ice like that.

He's a top notch sofa friend too! Send your business cards!"

Sharon just sent me a great slide show [1MB download] she made of her two papillons, Jewel and Puzzle. Take a look!

To view the slideshow's pictures you need Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 5 or higher (If you use Windows 98/2000/XP or MacOS it's probably on your computer already). To optionally see the slideshow in automated mode you'll also need the Adobe Imager Viewer plug-in for Acrobat Reader.

Enjoy!

"Honey is my dream dog and we are together 24/7. Because of the good start she got in life at Evergreen she is a very well behaved and healthy dog. She gets along with other animals although she is reserved at first. For her size she can really defend her territory. She stands right up to any dog but she doesn't like being around big puppys.

Honey and I travel all around the United States together and she can be in her travel bag for long periods and never makes a wimper or scratch. I take her everywhere I go in her travel bag or pooch pouch and she is a very happy girl.

I thank you Lois and Ken for placing this wonderful dog with me. I love that we stay in touch and that I can always count on you to answer me when I write.

We love you both,

Dawna and Honey"

"This is Woodrow hanging out the pickup window in Colorado. He just loves the wind in his face.

I was trying to take pictures and hold on to him at the same time, but was struggling, so we put the leash on him, and put the leash under John's leg on the other side of the pickup. I just happened to look in the mirror and thought that would make a good picture—and it did!

We so love Maggie and Woodrow. I wish you could know how much. I think maybe I'll just call you right up one of these days..."

"Hi—it's me, Bandit. The other little guy in the pictures is my brother Toby, another Evergreen papillon.

As you can see, he's not so little anymore. Mommy & Daddy thought that I would like a playmate, and they were right.

We thought we'd send along some action shots of us. Can you see the crazed look in our eyes when we really get playing hard? Obviously, we're the best of buddies.

I placed third in my first obedience class. I'm very smart, you know. I know how to do all the normal doggy tricks, along with impersonating a mean dog and weaving through Mommy's legs when she walks. That trick earned me extra points for my obedience exam. I also keep a close eye on Mommy in the kitchen. As soon as she sets the table, I bark to let Daddy know that supper is ready.

Toby went to puppy class but was more interested in following Mommy and her treats around than he was in playing with the other puppies. He'll be going to a real obedience class this spring. We expect him to do well as he is very focused for his age. He's a real ham and does everything I do. He learned how to sit and lie down just by watching me.

We hope all is well with you and the doggies. As usual, we'll be watching your website for everyone's updates."

"I am sending you a picture of our Beautiful Kyleigh! She is a year old today!

We adore this little luvbug and she is such a happy girl! So Healthy and SMART!

She is learning to be a service dog for me and is so patient and loving. She spends her entire day with me and is not one bit afraid of my wheelchair. We have such a close loving relationship.

My trainer is amazed at what she has learned in just a short time. She is gentle and eager to please and so very loving! I cannot thank you enough for bringing this sweet puppy into my life. She weighs 7.50 lbs now and she is so lovely!

She has brought me such joy and devotion. Here is her one-year picture [top] and a baby picture with her new bed that I made [bottom]. I'm such a proud mommy!"

     —Patricia Huff, North Carolina

"Just a short note to let you know that Sam and I are thoroughly enjoying Jewel.

She has brightened our lives and we wouldn't trade her for the world. She has survived her first trip to the groomer quite nicely and she as impressed with her temperment as we are. I just thought that you might want to know and she has taken to the truck very well.

I will need some cards if you have any as she has made many friends in our travels and there are a few people that would like to see about owning one. When we get some pictures of her we will forward them to you.

Oh by the way, she thinks that she is boss over Lucy and the funny thing about it is Lucy lets her think it.

Please remember that we are interested in a female when your next litter comes. If we get up on I-90 I will give you a call and hopefully you will be able to meet us to see how well she is doing.

Thank you very much!"

"Thank you so much for our new love, Samson! He is an incredibly happy dog.

He just wants to be near us for everything. He is extremely easy to care for. He lets us know when it is time to go outside for potty, we can't even believe it! He is not scared of anything, even lightening during the storms. He is eager to play with other dogs, even the big ones. We will wait until his shots are complete before socializing.

We had a bit of drama after we left you at the baggage area at the airport. You can read all about it at http://samson.cariandcharles.com/.

We just got back from the vet this morning and everything is great. Thank you and Kenny for being such wonderful and caring people."

     —Cari Casillas, Florida

"Poppet is nearly done being a puppy. That is hard to believe. She is the star of our entire household.

My mother (approaching her 91st birthday) simply sparkles when Poppet runs into her room and jumps into her lap and licks all the lotion off her face and hands.

I had some new publicity photos taken for my books, and I managed to get one good photo with Poppet. Zondervan has chosen to use it when they publish my next book. I thought you might like to see the picture and maybe use it on your site."

     —Robin Lee Hatcher, Boise, ID

"Hi—it's me, Bandit. I'm the one with the long hair [top]. The little guy [below] is Toby, another Evergreen papillon. He watches everything I do and copies me. He even learned how to sit for a treat just by watching me do it.

I went to my first obedience class and placed third out of fourteen. I love learning new things and being around other dogs. Toby will be going to class either this fall or next spring. I think Toby and I will be asking for some indoor agility equipment for Christmas so we can practice during our long winters.

Did I tell you that we get some pretty harsh weather here in Michigan? Our snow sometimes starts in October, and we usually still have some in April, thanks to Lake Superior. We've accumulated quite the wardrobe of sweaters to keep us warm on our walks. We don't mind the snow if we're not out in it for too long, but we've let Mommy know that we're definitely not water dogs. We like to walk on the beach as long as our toes don't get wet!

Our favorite hobbies are going for walks and car rides, watching the chipmunks on the deck, teasing our rabbit when she comes out to run and visiting with anyone who will stop to pet us. Oh, we also like to play with each other and with all our toys. If anyone out there is looking for a playful little dog who rides well in a car, check into a papillon!

We'll keep you posted on our progress, and we'll be checking your website often!"

We have been waiting for the weather to become sunny so that we could take some pictures of Dakota and Tamika for you to see. Dakota is very happy with his new little sister and playmate. The two of them just love one another and Dakota has taken over as the big protective brother.

Just recently, we added another member to our family because my son lost his cat, Giggiboo of 10 years. We have a ragdoll kitten named Jazzpurr and he is Dakota’s and Tamika’s new little brother. The three of them get along wonderfully together. Dakota has taken on a role of becoming my new helper (he has always followed me around everywhere anyway) but I think this makes him feel real important.

Thank you, Lois, for sending us these two beautiful puppies. We love them both to bits.

Enjoy the pictures. Will write again soon to show you how they’re growing.

"Chester is such a wonderful puppy! He just loves everyone and everyone loves him!

He can't get enough attention and loves learning new tricks. So far, he's mastered "sit" and "lay down"! He loves going for car rides and walks anywhere. He's also an avid tug-o-war player! He is a great addition to our family! Thanks again!"

"Greetings from Boise, Idaho.

Our flight home from South Dakota was a hoot. Poppet won the hearts of everyone who saw her. Four people posed with her for photos just because they thought her so cute. Two of those were flight attendants on our last flight. My husband Jerry met us at the airport with the camera and took our arrival photo.

Poppet has mostly charmed her housemates. Misty the border collie adores her. Tiko the sheltie's feelings are a little hurt, but she's tolerating this addition. Delilah the Persian's thoughts about this "little menace" are not printable, I'm sure.

Since I've been waiting for this homecoming since before Poppet was born, it's a joy to know she is everything I could have wanted and more. She is friendly and playful and basically fearless. Right now she's sleeping near my feet as I work on the computer, but the rest of the time, she is gleefully attacking the little toys I got her.

I'll keep you updated as she grows."

     —Robin Lee Hatcher, Boise, ID

"Update on Bentlie: Bentlie is great! She's so different from Lexi.

It was pouring down rain this morning and Bentlie wanted to go outside. She was running around the oval track (she think's she's at the Daytona 500 track) when she runs on the oval astro truf in our backyard. The rain doesn't bother her. Lexi is like a cat. Doesn't like to get wet.

We're so glad we got Bentlie. Lexi's personality has really changed and I like this side of her. She was a sweetheart before but now she seems to have someone to play with and really seems happier. Do you know what I mean? With all the dogs around your house, it would be pretty boring with just one. Two seem to entertain you all the time!

I love the personalities of both dogs. And I would highly recommend anyone to buy two of your Papillons. Wonderful dogs!"

"Just a short note to wish you and your family a Very Happy Holiday Season and Best Wishes for the coming New Year!

Here are some updated pictures of Dakota, as well as some from this summer when we took him camping. As you can see, he loves to have his picture taken. He's always posing for the camera. He is doing very well and has two of our four cats as his new buddies.

We had Dakota registered with the AKC. His registered name is "Sir Dakota Prance-A-Lot". We picked this because when he runs, walks or sits he has a very proud stance that reminded us of a horse when it trots very proudly.

He still loves everyone he meets whether he meets them in the shops or just out for a walk in the neighbourhood. He is a real joy to have as a member of our family."

"Hi. My name is Bandit and I'm shown here at 4 months and 6 months old. As you can see, my coat is coming in beautifully.

My Mommy and Daddy had a great first impression of me when I handled our fifteen hour drive home like a trooper. I was obviously very well socialized by Kenny & Lois as I will go to anyone with my tail wagging. I don't spook at anything, and I only bark when I feel it's really necessary. I'm very much people-oriented, and I'm very intelligent. I Iearned how to sit in only ten minutes! I've gotten rave reviews from everyone at our veterinarian's office.

Thanks to Kenny and Lois for getting me used to being in a crate when I was little. I've slept through the night since my first night in my new home, and I go into my crate all by myself when I need a break.

I'll keep everybody updated on my progress, and I promise to send more pictures as I grow."

"We don't think we could have chose a better breed than a Papillon. We love Napoleon to no end! He truly is a wonderful dog.

As you can see he is turning into a beautiful Papillon..."

"Currey is doing wonderful! The kids absolutely love him. He is exactly what we were wanting. His color has deepened and he has been getting more freckles as his adult coat fills in.

Litter box training is successful. We did however convert him to a hanging water bottle because he liked to put his feet in his water and then walk through the litterbox caking it to the bottom of his feet. He adapted very well. I'm glad that he likes the water! It makes bath time so much easier. He is absolutely perfect during bathtime. He just sits there in the sink, lets me clean his ears out, get a complete bath, get towel dried and even lightly blow dried.

Currey has now been fixed and his surgery was successful. When we picked him up later that day he was already jumping and ready to play. Keeping him calm for 7 - 10 days was the challenge ... he is always ready to romp.

Currey has proven to be a great jumper. He has even been known to throw his stuffed toy dragonfly about 5 feet while jumping. It really catches us off guard if we aren't paying attention and this toy goes flying across the room.

Currey is a great photo subject and very easy to work with."

"Hi Lois! I was finally able to get a friend to take pictures of Ysabella with his digital camera so I could send to you, and so here they are.

The other dog is Chilli. As you can see Ysabella has grown a lot since January, when she was only weighing 1 pound. She is wearing her pink bow from the groomers.

Hope all is well with all your doggies."

     —Yolanda Treptow, Florida

"Hello! I haven't sent you any up dates on my Papillon lately. I have Hercules, from Molly.

He couldn't be happier! I am currently working on his C.D. tittle and his T.D., Agility, maybe even therapy dog. He is doing wonderful in Obedience. I am so amazed with how fast he learns!

He also loves to come to our cabin in the summer time. He goes on can rides and even has a live jacket to swim around in. Herky goes nuts when it snows out. When he comes in he is a huge snow ball! LOL! I bought some new balls for him and he absolutely is obsessed with them! It's a kill to watch him play! If our Lab even glances at them he turns evil and sets him strait. Herky has 100% control over poor old Pete! He is quite the fisty boy but I wouldn't love him any other way!

Wanted to thank you so much for this spoiled dog. We are a team and I couldn't have got though it with out him. We are even starting to look for a new papillon! Yippee!"

—Sue and Cierra Pedersen, Kearney, NE

"Hello, how have you been? We finally named our papillon Alexandra Prada Miller, or Lexy for short.

We have been doing so much that Lexy often gets tired and has to take a nap every afternoon. She loves the weather out here so much.

She has been traveling so much and loves it so I put all of her pictures up on a webpage at http://www.geocities.com/cartier1900/pap1.html.

     —Nick Miller, Las Vegas, NV

"We wanted to first of all thank you so much for Sadie's beautiful puppy. He is truly a remarkable puppy!

He has such a great personality; we love him very much. He is very much a lap puppy and enjoys sleeping and playing on our laps.

We enjoyed meeting Kenny and your daughter Pamela at the Atlanta airport.

We wanted to share with you a few pictures of Napoleon's first night and day with us. When we got him home at 8:30 p.m. he was full of energy and wanted to play. We played with him till 12:00 p.m. He played very hard for 2.5 hours within that time.

I have sent you a picture of him sleeping in Mike's arms after playing. There is also a picture of Napoleon and I playing with one of his many toys. His favorite stuffed animal is a hedgehog, which is in the picture with us.

He is adjusting extremely well to our new home and is going potty outside with no problems. He doesn't like getting his feet wet to much and > unfortunately all it has done here is lightly rain. I am sure he will be elated when it is warm and sunny.

One more thing--we took him to the vet today and he had an excellent bill of health.

Thank you again, Lois!

—Jackie and Mike Seipel, Cumming, GA

"Bella is a treat!!!! She is so funny and so independent!

Bella is doing fine! We got home last night, played for a while and then she went to sleep right beside me. When she got up she went to her litter box and did her business.

I then took her for a walk on the beach and she did great. Inspecting the seaweed and the sand. She is a very curious dog and very sure of herself. Thanks to you!

Once again my gratitude for the effort you made on my behalf to get her to the airport yesterday. I enclosed some pictures for you to see and will continue to update you on her progress. When people inquire as to where I got her I will pass your name along.

Good fortune in all aspects of life."

     —Trish Verrusio, Highland Beach, FL

"This is Radar!

He is 4 months old and weighs 4lbs. He is so full of life and energy!

He can go and go and go he does. He goes everywhere with me. Whether it is a trip to Minneapolis, the cabin up north or just to relax in the sun. He is a wonderful little traveler!

He is so smart too. He fetches, sits, lays down and comes on command. He is such a sweety!

I am so happy I found Lois. She has wonderful dogs that obviously have wonderful offspring. I am excited to see how he changes physically throughout the years and I just love his ears!

Thank you Lois and Kenneth for helping me find a great little friend!

     —Jennifer Stark, Walthill, NE

"Coco is doing so well, she is so happy and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect puppy.

She has adjusted to her new home without any problems at all, eating well from the first day. She is always playful and wants to be around people all the time. She is the friendliest puppy I've ever seen, she wants to meet everyone she encounters and is full of love and kisses for everyone.

She is extremely smart and is picking up training very quickly. She loves to play inside and outside all day and can still settle down on your lap or in your arms any time and go right to sleep. Thank you for giving us the perfect little puppy!"

     —Marissa McGuire

"Just thought I would share our latest picture of Hercules.

He is doing great and we love him to pieces.

Cierra is teaching him tricks and he is so smart. Hope all is well with you."

—Sue and Cierra Pedersen, Kearney, NE

"If I had to define Kato in one word it has to be PERFECT.

Everyone who has come to contact with him finds him irresistible. The vet is very pleased with Kato's condition. They even consider him dog-show material but we do not want to put undo pressure on the puppy. We just want him to be as happy and healthy as could be. I keep track of his features as compared to the breed standards and find it amazingly on the higher end of the range. The only things I have found is his front toes are facing a bit outward; otherwise, he can simply win over any judges mind...

Every now and then, he has been around our friend's dogs and no matter whose house, Kato always rules! He runs so fast that we sometimes call him the ghost! For this one reason we are so pleased to have the backyard fenced so he could run as fast and free as he wants without getting hurt. Of course, even with the fenced backyard, we still don't leave him alone from the fear that a hawk may take him.

It took a very short time before he began using the bathroom and was completely house-trained. We tried the kitty box for a while but he did not use it as well as he did with you, so we started taking him out. Bob's office is less than 5 minutes from our house, so for the first week or so he came home every 2 hours to let him out.

After a while, Bob only came home at lunch to let him out. His work is finished by 4 pm, at which time Kato gets to go out again. We are very pleased with the way the bathroom issue has been resolved.

I will keep you posted on his progress. Also, can't wait to see Sadie's new puppies on your web site!

Take care."
